Duddon Valley Terrace, Cumbria

Artist: Roger Griffiths
Medium: Original watercolour painting
Size: 49 x 34 cm
Style: Contemporary
Title: Duddon Valley Terrace, Cumbria
Item number: RG004

Description
A striking, colourful painting depicting a row of terraced cottages which sit in the beautiful Duddon Valley countryside in Lake District National Park in Cumbria.
Roger has used a wide colour pallette to lead the viewer to the main focal point of the painting, the grey and white cottages contrasting with the bright blue sky, the purple hills in the background and the greens of the fields in the foreground. An image full of detail and interest, created in the artist's own very unique style.
This original watercolour painting is presented loose ready for mounting and framing, the image measures 49 x 34 cm.
The painting is priced at £135, plus £10 postage and packing.

About the artist
Roger aims to express the underlying patterns in the landscape generated by his interest in geology and geography, but the interpretations are not intended to be fully representational. He finds particularly interesting the landscapes in areas of transition between lowland and upland, and sea and land, with features such as hill farms marking past and present human activity, field patterns and rock outcrops. His interpretation is based on a feeling for a landscape rather than what is seen, its past heritage and land uses, and he aims to abstract the structure of the land set within an impressionistic background. Subjects depict his local area of Northamptonshire and the Midlands, but also extend to all parts of England and Wales.

Description
A striking, colourful painting of a typical group of farm buildings nestling in the stunning County Durham landscape.
Roger has used a fairly narrow colour pallette to lead the viewer towards the main focal point of the painting, emphasising the green trees and yellow browns of the tracks contrasting with blues used to depict the farm fields. The farm stands on the south side of Blackton reservoir. This is an image full of detail and interest, created in the artist's own very unique style.
This original watercolour painting is presented loose ready for mounting and framing, the image measures 56 x 38 cm.
The painting is priced at £145.00, plus £10.00 UK postage and packing.
